WATERSHED EDUCATION PROGRAM

Storm Water Pollution Prevention – Keeping San Diego Bay Clean

The Upper San Luis Rey Resource Conservation District has partnered with the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego to offer a FREE Watershed Education Program for all 2nd, 5th, and 6th grade classes in the San Luis Rey Watershed. This is a fun, scientific, and interactive opportunity for students to learn about their environment and important water quality issues in San Diego County, and it meets California Science Standards for each grade level.

An RCD educator will come to your school to present a one-hour program using a three-dimensional watershed model. Students actively participate in the workshop by “polluting” the watershed model and making predictions about how those pollutants might affect the environment. Students then discuss how we can make small but important changes in our daily lives to help stop water pollution.

Reservations are required at least two weeks in advance. Book early in the year to guarantee availability. Check availability or request a reservation form by calling 619-562-0096.

The Upper San Luis Rey RCD is funding this program for free presentations for all schools in our District. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Baldridge, Education Coordinator at 619-562-0096 or email ann.baldridge@rcdsandiego.org.
